This set features the Democrats' symbol of a donkey, a political animal that is considered smart and brave and not afraid to kick out. The symbol came from Democrat Andrew Jackson's 1828 presidential campaign - in which his opponents referred to him as a jackass - so he decided to use the image of this strong-willed animal on his campaign posters.
